Support Uint8Array input to all the synchronous methods.

In many cases, the Buffer.isBuffer() check gates access to Buffer specific methods that are not in Uint8Array so that would be rather problematic.

Right – also, we need to check our input validation for correct error messages, and make sure that userland still sees Buffers when it expects them.
