Understanding the Agentic Toolbox
A CLI-powered quality counterpart for coding agents. Extend your coding agent with Qodo capabilities for codebase understanding, standards, and review.
The Agentic Toolbox gives coding agents access to Qodo’s code understanding, team rules, code review, and finding resolution capabilities. Agents can use these capabilities while planning, writing, and reviewing code.
The Agentic Toolbox helps coding agents:
- Understand the codebase: Analyze code, dependencies, and the potential impact of changes.
- Apply team rules: Use your organization’s coding standards and guidelines while working on code.
- Review changes: Check changes before a pull request and identify issues that need attention.
- Resolve findings: Help fix issues identified during review.
How the Agentic Toolbox works
The Agentic Toolbox works across coding agents, developer environments, and custom engineering systems.- Coding agents and IDEs: Access Qodo through plugins, CLI, and MCP in tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Kiro.
- Natural-language requests: Ask your coding agent to perform a task, and the agent can select and run the appropriate Qodo capability.
- Custom workflows: Connect Qodo through APIs and MCP to CI/CD pipelines, internal tools, and automations.
- Local CLI: Use the CLI to install the Agentic Toolbox, manage authentication and credentials, run commands, and work with structured output.
Give agents the context they need
AI coding agents need more than the files they are currently editing to understand the potential impact of a change. Qodo’s Context Engine brings connected repositories, pull request history, specifications, and live Git state into the coding session. It helps agents understand relationships across repositories, services, and workflows before they plan or change code. With this broader context, agents can identify dependencies and reason about the potential blast radius of a change.Build quality into the agentic workflow
The Agentic Toolbox adds an independent quality layer to the agentic workflow. Agents can review their work before a pull request is opened, giving them an opportunity to identify and fix issues while they are still working on the code. For example:- Reviewer: Reviews committed and uncommitted local changes directly in the coding session and returns structured findings.
- PR Resolver: Resolves issues identified during pull request review. It works with findings from the pull request review rather than reviewing the local coding session.
Govern agentic development at scale
Enterprise engineering teams need a central source of truth for their standards. They also need control over who can use those standards, where they apply, and how they change over time. Qodo’s Agentic Toolbox provides centralized governance so enterprises can:- Version rules: Maintain and update engineering standards over time.
- Set permissions: Control who can access and apply rules.
- Scope standards: Apply rules to specific teams, repositories, or workflows.
- Enforce standards: Apply consistent checks across coding agents and development environments.
- Audit governance: Track how standards are managed across the organization.
