An SVG inside <img> has always been a styling dead end: you can place it, but you can’t paint it. CSS Linked Parameters fix that in Firefox Nightly, so I traced Warhol’s Marilyn and repainted it nine times from one 50 KB file 🤓 pepelsbey.dev/articles/svg-l…

Oh, I missed the first @webstandardsdev birthday! Apparently, if you publish news every day for a year, excluding weekends, it makes it 251 news 🤔 Still no mailing list, but there’s always RSS: web-standards.dev/feed/

You don’t need initial-scale in your HTML. Declan Chidlow and Peter-Paul Koch published the same finding: the <meta name="viewport"> element only needs width=device-width, and Safari no longer needs the hint. #html #browser vale.rocks/micros/2026090… quirksmode.org/quirksblog/202…

I’m cursed to see faux bold rendering when font-weight is cranked higher than the included font actually supports. I wish browser DevTools would flag it in the console. Makes me wonder if this could be caught by a linter 🤔

Now that most of the browsers are moving to a 2-week release cycle, expect: Firefox 200 in 2028 Firefox 300 in 2032 …and if I live long enough, I might see Firefox 1000 in 2059 😬 Firefox groups.google.com/a/mozilla.org/… Edge blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2026… Chrome developer.chrome.com/blog/chrome-tw…

Why bother with time zones when you can just offload this problem on your user’s shoulders? Lazy Vattenfall bastards 🙄 (pressing “Continue” reloads the page)
