Lecturer and researcher in international business
I study whether internationalization improves firm performance in Asia, and under which institutional conditions that relationship holds. The empirical work draws on World Bank Enterprise Surveys firm-level data across 50 Asia-Pacific economies, 107 country-year waves (2006–2026), matched by country-year to the Worldwide Governance Indicators, alongside a meta-analytic synthesis of the existing evidence.
Two manuscripts carry the core of the programme:
- Institutional context and the form of the internationalization–performance relationship in 50 Asian and Pacific economies: a two-stage random-coefficient design. WBES firm-level data, 107 country-year waves, matched to the WGI.
- Institutional context, digital adoption, and the internationalization–performance relationship: a three-level meta-analysis. Coding table under re-audit against the primary studies. Analysis plan registered on OSF on 18 May 2026 (10.17605/OSF.IO/Z37KN); audit and re-analysis plan registered on 25 October 2026 (10.17605/OSF.IO/K5CZT).
Interests — internationalization strategy · firm performance · institutional quality in emerging markets · meta-analysis and multilevel modelling · research software and reproducibility · entrepreneurship education.
I review for the International Journal of Economics, Management and Accounting (IJEMA).
Releases are archived on Zenodo. The DOIs below are concept DOIs — each always resolves to the most recent version.
M-AIDA's dissertation-cited deposit of v7.1.1 stays separately published at 10.5281/zenodo.21282516 and always resolves to that frozen version.
Two WebGL scenes built for International Business teaching, each archived under its own DOI and also installed as an exhibit on the personal site.

Every artefact above carries a CITATION.cff, so GitHub's Cite this repository
button and the Zenodo record agree. Cite the concept DOI for a work as a whole, or
a version DOI when an exact build matters.
For the research itself, please cite the manuscript rather than this profile. Work in progress is listed on jemappellehuong.com and on ORCID.
