hobobiker-assets

The database and uploaded files of hobobiker.com, the Drupal 6 blog of Randy Fay and Nancy Lewis's 2.5-year bicycle trip through the Americas (2006–2009). They go with the site's code in rfay/hobobiker.com, and are used for the migration demos built with rfay/site-migration-kit.

The files are attached to the releases, not committed to this repository.

v1.2 (2026-10-25)

File What SHA-256
db.sql.gz the database (MariaDB 10.2 dump, gzip) ccaa82890f95ee8161e4781d1290149709395f96ed3a46be5301fec89ff22c80
db.sql.zst the same dump, zstd (optional) 81708283e3a58fe3a17e052a2ce724aab47f9a405b758ee8ea8ca7f85162d650
files.tar.gz the contents of sites/default/files (about 1 GB) 2bdfdb61e1d63ec2a4241ee19fe2bde9bf8a8d2baa530433bd09dd8ff5d78b4c

Built from production on 2026-10-25 with migration/sanitize-snapshot.sh, which works on a copy of the database and writes nothing unless its checks pass:

  • credentials removed (API keys and tokens, mail settings' password, Drupal's private key, the backup destination);
  • every user's password set to password and email to user+UID@localhost; commenters' emails and IP addresses and poll voters' IP addresses removed;
  • logs, sessions and caches emptied (watchdog, accesslog, sessions, flood, cache*, ...);
  • then checked: no key- or password-shaped strings in any table or file, no database dumps among the files, and none of the personal data removed from the site.

Using it with DDEV

git clone https://github.com/rfay/hobobiker.com && cd hobobiker.com
ddev start
gh release download v1.2 -R rfay/hobobiker-assets -p db.sql.gz -p files.tar.gz
ddev import-db --file=db.sql.gz
ddev import-files --source=files.tar.gz
ddev exec drush cc all

Check the downloads first with sha256sum db.sql.gz files.tar.gz against the table above.

Earlier releases

v1.0 and v1.1 (2026-10-15 and 16) were withdrawn on 2026-10-24: they had only been through drush sql-sanitize, which scrubs user accounts but left credentials, visitor logs and some personal data in place. Those credentials have been revoked or rotated. Use v1.2.
