When using 1.29.2, if I try to build a cpp file (C++ Windows, cl.exe) it states "cl.exe build and debug active file requires the Visual Studio developer environment." even tho I AM using the Visual Studio developer environment, it gives me a choice to "Apply Developer Environment" but just replies with this error "The source code could not be built because the Visual Studio developer environment was not applied.". The same cannot be said for the previous version (1.28.3), doing the exact same thing works fine and dandy with version 1.28.3
Debugger Configurations
I didn't add a tasks.json or launch.json file
Debugger Logs
Error "cl.exe build and debug active file requires the Visual Studio developer environment."
Button "Apply Developer Environment"
Results in:
Error "The source code could not be built because the Visual Studio developer environment was not applied."
@maybdev We're not able to repro the issue. What version of Visual Studio (developer tools) are you using?
I'm new to C/C++ and the tool stuff, so I think your asking for this? Visual Studio 2022 Developer Command Prompt v17.14.21 is the version i'm currently using
maybdev (@maybdev) Are you able to confirm that you do not have NETFXSDKDir set by the developer environment via the steps mentioned at #14089 (comment)?
Sean McManus (@sean-mcmanus) Yes, 1.19.2 was the problem that 1.29.3 fixed, thanks for all the help! I should have looked at all the other posts to see if the problem was open somewhere else (which it was)

This may be a duplicate of #14084 and we have a workaround in that issue until a patch goes out.
Could you share the environment that is being applied? Hover over the terminal icon and click "Show Environment Contributions".

maybdev (@maybdev) Or can you try again with https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-cpptools/releases/tag/v1.29.3 ? That has a fix, but you may need to re-run the Clear or Set Developer Environment command again.
