Why

Readers who use the reader's built-in AI don't learn that they can connect their own assistant (ChatGPT, Claude…) to Klipstack through the MCP server. The reader's AI is the natural place to say so, especially when the month's questions run out.

What changes

  • After an answer (selection card and chat), a "Continue in your assistant" icon next to Copy and Delete.
  • The empty chat gets a quiet line, "Or ask your own assistant…", with Copy prompt.
  • With no questions left, the card and chat show "Keep going with your own assistant" with Copy prompt.
  • Each copies one prompt: the article's id (for get_article) and title, the quoted passage, the questions that were answered (not the answers), and how to connect the MCP server if it isn't yet. English and Spanish.
  • Hidden when AI is turned off in Settings → Features and for unverified emails, which can't connect yet. Shown whether or not an assistant is connected: the prompt works either way.

Verification

  • pnpm verify passes.
  • New Playwright scenario in ai-reader.spec.ts: reads the clipboard for each spot (id, passage, questions, MCP address, no answers), and checks nothing shows without a verified email. The "turned off" scenario now also checks the offer is absent. Screenshots checked for the card, the empty chat and both none-left states.
  • A review (task, i18n, tests, public repo, security) ran. Fixed: refused or failed questions were listed as asked, an empty title, and the missing turned-off and chat checks. Kept: the icon on orphaned cards (the prompt still names the article).
  • Some ai-reader scenarios failed once while the article was still extracting, before any AI code ran, and passed on retry. This happens on open(), unrelated to this change.

Risk and follow-ups

The iPhone reader doesn't offer this yet.

After an answer, in the empty chat and when no questions are left, the reader can copy a prompt that carries the article, the passage and the questions asked to their own assistant, through the MCP server, with the steps to connect it.
