Summary

  • Allow Smoke Temporary ID's required summary comment to target its newly created parent issue on scheduled/dispatched runs; preserve the two-comment limit and completion guarantees.
  • Use the canonical item_number field in the workflow's summary payload, and add source-configuration and native MCP regressions for temporary-ID targets.
  • Regenerate only the affected workflow lock. No engine runtime changes or duplicate implementation of Fix discussion temporary IDs and missing terminal safe outputs #70696.

Fixes #70695

Evidence and scope

Main and the investigation checkout were at #70696 (b2707604dd52732afa66ff7ae270bda96cf6c9fd), merged 2026-10-21 01:57:20Z. All latest scoped smoke runs predate that merge; none establishes a post-merge regression or hosted recovery.

Run 39520308288 submitted its parent/sub-issue declarations, then received two add_comment target errors before truthfully reporting incomplete. The current workflow still had that exact mismatch: scheduled runs have no triggering issue, but the required final comment names the newly created parent. This patch corrects only that residual workflow contract.

Other reports were separated causally: #70704 and #70722 failed during side-repository checkout before agent execution; #70710 contains an unavailable-model 400; #70686 repeatedly built safe-output command strings in Python without executing them. Those do not justify broad safe-output or engine changes here.

Validation

  • 251 merged-contract JavaScript tests passed (one existing skip), plus 41 comment-constraint tests including the two new scheduled/dispatched temporary-ID cases.
  • Targeted Go checks passed for merged Pi defaults/driver exposure, Aider reflection behavior, ingestion validation, and the new smoke configuration regression.
  • JavaScript typecheck and modified-file ESLint passed. Change-only Go lint passed with zero issues.
  • make fmt and make recompile completed; all 345 workflows compiled.
  • The compile-only strict dry-run gate passed with shellcheck, actionlint, zizmor and poutine; zero added scanner findings. Diagnostic and normal locks were preserved separately, and the normal lock restored byte-for-byte.
  • The aggregate publication gate was attempted. Missing JS lint dependencies were restored; shared Go-linter contention was resolved with a serial-run change-only lint. Full drift checking still fails on pre-existing admission-hash drift in unchanged daily-caveman-optimizer.lock.yml, intentionally excluded from this patch.
  • One read-only source/local-test security review reported no confirmed vulnerabilities. Generated-lock follow-up with that same reviewer was unavailable because this runtime cannot message synchronous agents; no complete live-execution review or hosted behavior is claimed. No workflow was dispatched.

Draft per inherited user preference.

Allow the scheduled smoke workflow to comment on its newly declared parent, and use the canonical item_number field. Preserve comment limits and completion requirements; cover source configuration and native MCP calls for schedule and dispatch.
