resolve_hostname initialized 'end' with begin(), so the IPv4 results were always skipped and only the IPv6 lookup was used; hosts without an IPv6 address failed to resolve. The IPv4-then-IPv6 fallback used in all resolver call sites could not work either, since resolve() with a protocol throws when there are no results instead of returning an empty range. Resolve all address families again (with address_configured, the default of the old resolver::query) and skip non-IPv4 entries only when force_ipv4 is set. Add a unit test for resolve_hostname, connect_begin and accept_begin. Thanks, the fix looks right. With end initialized from begin() the IPv4 results were never used, and since resolve() with a protocol throws instead of returning an empty range, the IPv4-then-IPv6 fallback couldn't work at any of the call sites. Resolving all families with address_configured and skipping non-IPv4 entries only for force_ipv4 makes the 1.34+ branch behave exactly like the pre-1.34 one, where address_configured was the default flag of resolver::query. I built it on Windows against Asio 1.36.0: the new test and the 2-locality TCP barrier test pass.
The failing jobs are unrelated: macOS (Debug) with Boost fetch fails only on the counting_semaphore_cpp20 timeout, macOS (Debug) was cancelled after 6 hours, and the HWLoc fetch and CodeQL jobs fail at the CMake generate step on the fetched hwloc, which #7821 fixed on master since.

Follow-up to f073c54 (the Asio 1.34 changes for #6747).
Proposed Changes
resolve_hostname:endwas initialized withbegin(), so the IPv4 results were always skipped and only the IPv6 lookup was used. Hosts without an IPv6 address failed to resolve.address_configured, which was the default of the oldresolver::query) and only skip non-IPv4 entries whenforce_ipv4is set. The IPv4-then-IPv6 fallback couldn't work anyway, sinceresolve()with a protocol throws when there are no results instead of returning an empty range.resolve_hostname,connect_beginandaccept_begin.Any background context you want to provide?
Found while updating Asio in vcpkg (microsoft/vcpkg#54423), which carries this fix as a patch for now.
