Most of my projects start as a question: how does this actually work, and can I build a simpler version of it? That's led to CLI tools, developer utilities, and backend services rather than polished consumer apps. I care more about clear architecture and code that stays maintainable than about shipping something flashy.
Simple systems over unnecessary complexity. Explicit architecture over implicit magic. Interfaces that are easy to reason about, and code that's meant to be maintained, not just shipped.
I use competitive programming to keep problem-solving and algorithmic thinking sharp — less about the ranking, more about the reps.
