I took an unconventional path into tech: I earned a Ph.D. in African American Studies & English before teaching myself to code.
Even though my career shifted, the intellectual commitments remain — I still build with the same care, curiosity, and respect for complexity that guided my research in Black cultural history.
I work in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Express.js, and SQL,
with a deep focus on accessibility, performance, and human-centered design.
Today, I’m creating at the intersection of education, AI, and creative computation —
building tools that help people learn, reflect, and imagine better futures.
Most of my listening lives on YouTube, so here’s what’s been in rotation:
- Samurai Champloo OST — Nujabes × Fat Jon
- J Dilla instrumentals
- Lofi anime beats (YouTube streams)
- Northern Lights Bonobo
- Ralph Ellison — Shadow & Act
