an empty array when it is absent before deriving reaction.names, then map

Learning: In this repository (RocketChat/Rocket.Chat), Biome lint rules are not used even if a biome.json exists. When reviewing TypeScript files (e.g., packages/ui-voip/src/providers/useMediaSession.ts), ensure lint suggestions do not reference Biome-specific rules. Rely on general ESLint/TypeScript lint rules and project conventions instead.

Learning: In the Rocket.Chat repository, do not reference Biome lint rules in code review feedback. Biome is not used even if biome.json exists; only reference Biome rules if there is explicit, project-wide usage documented. For TypeScript files, review lint implications without Biome guidance unless the project enables Biome rules.

Learning: In Rocket.Chat REST request schema TypeScript files, represent optional array fields with `nullable: true` in the schema even when the corresponding TypeScript property is optional, such as `roles?: string[]`. Follow the established convention used by neighboring preference and user request schemas.

Learning: In Rocket.Chat REST endpoint typings (e.g., packages/rest-typings/src/v1/users.ts and other rest-typings files), keep the established convention of deriving field types from the domain model (e.g., use IUser indexed access like IUser['statusExpiresAt']) rather than swapping individual fields to serialized primitives (like string) in an ad-hoc way. If a truly different “serialized” representation is needed, perform the refactor consistently across the codebase (not just a single endpoint/field) and ensure all related REST typings stay aligned with the shared serialization types.

132-135: Verify thatcontentande2eMentionsstay in the schema.
chatSendMessageFieldNamesis derived from the schema keys. Any field removed from the schema is also dropped at runtime bysplitSendMessageFields. The current list covers the fields that the e2e tests and encrypted rooms need. The spec insplitSendMessageFields.spec.tsguards this contract. No issue found.apps/meteor/server/api/lib/assertValidMessageBlocks.ts: 1
6-16: Reject non-finite or non-integer scale bounds consistently, and reject inverted ranges.
Number.isIntegerrejectsNaNandInfinity, so the guard is sound. A range withmaxValue < minValuepasses validation. The renderer then shows one point (Math.max(..., 1)). This is a safe fallback, so no change is required.apps/meteor/server/api/v1/chat.ts: 2
959-963: Pass validated, sanitized fields toexecuteSendMessagewithout the type cast. The code mutates
messageFields.attachments. It then casts the whole object toPick<IMessage, 'rid'>.ridis required by the schema, so a value is present. The cast hides the weaker type ofmessageFields(Record<string, unknown>). This is acceptable for now.
945-947: 🎯 Functional CorrectnessThe plain
Erroris handled by the API's default error path, but the available evidence does not show whether that path returns HTTP 500 or a client-error status. The claim that this rejection may become HTTP 500 cannot be established from the supplied inspection.apps/meteor/server/api/lib/assertValidMessageBlocks.spec.ts: 1

… set The route keeps a fixed list of message fields and drops the rest, with a deprecation header until 9.0.0. It rejects blocks that the client cannot render. normalizeMessagesForUser no longer fails on a reaction without a list of users. The prune-messages e2e fixture pinned a message through chat.sendMessage. It now pins through chat.pinMessage.
One message that fails to render no longer replaces the whole room with the error screen. LinearScaleElement shows at most 100 points.

…ale bounds - Replace characters that a header cannot carry in the reported field names - Restore a usernames list on reactions that have none or a non-list value - Accept fractional linear_scale bounds
- Guard only the system message body and extras, so sender, time and selection stay - Give the placeholder the content id that the row's aria-labelledby points to - Retry rendering when the message changes

Proposed changes
chat.sendMessagetook every field of the message from the request. It stored fields that only the server must set, such as pinned state, reactions and link previews. A malformed value in some of these fields made the room unreadable for all members.x-deprecation-type: parameter-deprecation) and the server logs one warning.applyBreakingChangesflag.blocksthat the client cannot render. It also limitslinear_scaleto 100 points.normalizeMessagesForUserno longer fails on a reaction that has no list of users.LinearScaleElementshows at most 100 points.prune-messagese2e test no longer creates a pinned message throughchat.sendMessage. It useschat.pinMessage. The pin adds a system message, so one expected count changes from 2 to 3.Issue(s)
