PSButlerII/README.md

Hi there 👋

I’m Preston Butler, a software developer, technical consultant, and owner of Recon Dev LLC. I help small businesses, entrepreneurs, and independent creators build software, improve existing systems, and turn ideas into working solutions. My goal is to make useful, dependable technology more accessible—especially for people working with limited resources or needs that off-the-shelf tools don’t fully address.

My development work includes full-stack web applications, internal business tools, APIs, and workflow automation. I work with technologies such as C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Python, choosing tools based on the problem, the project’s constraints, and the people who will use the result. Debugging, testing, and clear documentation are central to my approach because a solution needs to remain understandable and maintainable after the initial build.

Beyond software, I work with 3D printing, laser cutting, and hardware prototyping. I enjoy exploring where software and physical design meet, whether I’m creating a custom component, improving an existing setup, or developing an idea that could become a product. That hands-on work keeps me connected to the practical challenges of making something function outside the development environment.

My background in mechanical maintenance, management, and military service shapes how I approach technical work. I look at how the whole system functions, trace problems to their source, and consider what a solution will require to operate and maintain. I value collaboration, direct communication, and understanding the actual need before deciding what to build.

I’m motivated by work that makes a tangible difference: helping a business operate more smoothly, resolving a persistent technical issue, or giving someone the tools to create something of their own. Curiosity and continuous learning remain a large part of who I am, and I bring that mindset to every project I take on.
