fix(janitor): accept GPUReset updates when spec.selector is omitted - #2066
Merged

spec.selector is optional and an omitted selector resets all GPUs on the node, but the update webhook read Selector.UUIDs without a nil check. The first update, which adds the finalizer, panicked and was denied, so the GPUReset never started. Signed-off-by: Youssef Omar Bouden <youssef.bouden2002@gmail.com>

Summary
Fixes #2065.
spec.selectoris optional on GPUReset, and an omitted selector resets all GPUs on the node.gpuResetValidator.ValidateUpdatereadSelector.UUIDson both objects without a nil check, so the first update of a GPUReset without a selector (the controller adding its finalizer) panicked in the webhook and was denied. The reset never started. The validator now reads the UUIDs through a small nil-safe helper, so an omitted selector is compared as an empty UUID list. The immutability check is unchanged: adding UUIDs to a GPUReset created without a selector is still rejected.

Testing
Two webhook cases added: an update with the selector omitted is accepted (it panics at
janitor_webhook.go:351on main), and an update that adds UUIDs to an omitted selector is rejected. Ran locally with Go 1.27.2 on macOS arm64:go test -race ./...andgo vet ./...injanitor/,golangci-lint run ./pkg/webhook/...(0 issues).make lint-test-alland the e2e suite were not run, and the change was not tried on a cluster.Checklist
