Reimei is a free and lightweight NLE video editor built to enable creators with weaker hardware.
As someone who has been creating from a young age, I was never fortunate enough to own hardware that was capable of my editing needs. I didn't think much of it but I had to make countless compromises to keep doing what I loved...
In later years, I discovered Japanese software such as MikuMikuDance and AviUtl, I realised just how much these 2 pieces of software had shaped the Japanese internet ( particularly on platforms such as Nico Nico Douga ) during the era, enabling an entire generation of creatives to express their creativity regardless of the hardware they owned.
That alone is the foundation behind Reimei.
To enable others to create.

Reimei aims to bridge that gap. It isn't necessarily built to outright replace or compete with editors like Adobe Premiere or Davinci Resolve. Rather, it focuses on making video editing more accessible to others who may not have the luxury of modern hardware. ( Such as myself ) Regardless of whether you own a powerful workstation laptop, or an old machine you've had for years, you should still be given the opportunity to create something.
It isn't fair to want to create and to be limited by what you have. It just isn't.
Note: Reimei ( 黎明 ) means daybreak, otherwise dawn. The beginning of a new day, in this case it is the beginning of a new journey.
