I think this is an issue, occurring when resuming a transmission.
I think it can be reproduced, when sending a message, interrupting it and resending it.
Thanks @frspin <https://github.com/frspin> !

Really important fixing this issue
Can be correct.
I have resumed 3 times my message to you with it_italiano.json file (20.8 kb but less than 10 kB
compressed). And resumed 2 times a short message.

Where can I find FD specific logs?
Debian use journalctl for log check and searching for field MESSAGE=IRS-confirmed I can not find any
message

Are you running from source or via the scripts? When using the scripts there will be log files
I am running with a "home made" script:
#rigctld -m 1043 -r /dev/serial/by-id/usb-FTDI_FT232R_USB_UART_A907OEFM-if00-port0 -s 38400 -P RIG &
FREEDATA_CONFIG=freedata_server/config.ini python3 freedata_server/server.py
pid=$!
echo $pid
sleep 5
#killall rigctld
due to external rigctld
I can modify my script redirecting FD messages to a file but, for latest run with error, messages
was on terminal window and are gone!

Done another test.
Retransmitted it_italiano.json file, as yesterday
After 90% of transmission, with good switch between different modes, my server begin to transmit
without waiting an ACK.
I have interrupted transmission and resumed after few minutes, get a message of failure but server
insists on transmission for many times.
Another try and transmission goes well.
Attached complete log file for this afternoon's session as a zip file (unzipped size is about 1Mb).

Another test with a small message.
After few trials there was a loop in transmission, without getting any ACK.
Stopped and resumed without other problem
Log is attached, as .ZIP file.
My new message start at line 2900 of log. Timeout in PTT at line 3284
At line 4463 there is Transmission failed (my Stop) and, after this, resume of transmission done
with "manual resend" in chat.
Hope this help in your debug

For some reason you are decoding a signalling burst while transmitting. But I cant find the issue
for the transmission loop.
Can be a timing problem with rigctld?
For try, is possible to use a FD version of rigctld? Or control rig with flrig?

I added some additional logging code to develop branch. Maybe we can then get more data for debugging
