+1 my voice for this feature and it's still in the IntegratedDynamics logic
if we have our Scripting Drive with inserted Scripting Disk in the network where there are VariableStorages - why we can't queue them for a list of variables or for one with specific ID to return it's value?
Unless I'm mistaken, only way to bring values from any kind of Reader (block, entity, etc) is to drop it as a Card. But then you can't easily get that value in a script without Applying it as an Oporator and then we're back to good ol' Card building.
I also have run into a use case for this, reading an inventory for writing essentially a custom crafting script, since it seems neither AE2 nor Integrated Crafting can keep separate partial stacks of ingredients separate, both stack them into the same slot, making it really hard to put them into separate deployers. I can't write this script, because I can't read what items are available to craft with to determine which recipe to try and not put the ingredients in the wrong places because it tries another recipe it has half the items for. Scripts cannot do the operation I need, and it'd be a lot of work to do via variable cards

Waiting for this feature to be implemented.
