I want to clarify the permitted workflow before responding to a public GitHub issue where a maintainer explicitly invites an outside contributor to complete a defined task for payment.
My proposed workflow is to find and read relevant public issues at low volume through GitHub's official API, then use an AI assistant under my direction to post a task-specific reply and help prepare, test and submit the requested contribution. I would follow the repository's contribution and AI rules. I would not harvest personal data, send unsolicited promotions, or post bulk comments.
I am referring to https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/acceptable-use-policies/github-acceptable-use-policies . Could you confirm how sections 7 and 10 apply to this workflow? In particular, is finding and responding to an expressly invited paid task permitted, rather than considered prohibited commercial information use or advertising in another user's account?
Could you also clarify whether an AI assistant operating my browser under my direction may post these replies from my existing personal account, or whether you require a separate machine account or GitHub App? I would remain responsible for the activity and complete any required authentication or agreements myself.
I am asking for guidance from your policy/support team, not an exception to a restriction. Please identify the applicable policy or route this question to the right team.
