GitHub Support has still not resolved my account deletion request after almost a year.
The original problem started when I got this error while trying to update my billing information:
Because of this, I decided I simply wanted to delete my GitHub account.
I contacted GitHub Support about this in October 2025. For months, I received no response at all.
On July 4, 2026, after waiting roughly nine months without receiving a single reply, I created a Community discussion about the situation.
After that post, my support ticket finally received a response from an account simply named GitHub Support:
I replied:
And that was the last response I received.
Today is September 5, 2026, and more than two months have passed since then with no further response.
So at this point, I have been trying to get help with deleting my account for almost a year.
What makes this especially strange is that after waiting around nine months, Support finally contacted me only to ask whether I still needed help. I confirmed that I did, and then the ticket seemingly went inactive again for another two months.
I understand that support queues can be busy, but this amount of time for a simple account deletion request seems unreasonable.
Is there any way to escalate this or get someone from GitHub to actually process the deletion request?
