Hi everyone,
I have an active GitHub Educator account with verified academic status and Copilot Pro benefits granted through the GitHub Education program. However, premium models — including Claude Opus, and other Pro-tier models — are not visible in the model selector, neither in VS Code nor in Copilot Chat. Is it a backend issue or my account effected or March 2026 model restriction applies to Educator accounts as well? What would be the ETA for the solution if this is a known issue.
As a verified Educator, The March 2026 model restriction announcement explicitly targeted the Student Plan — Educator accounts should be unaffected. Don't know why this also affects us?
Environment
Account type: GitHub Educator (verified)
Copilot plan shown in settings: Pro (via Education benefit)
IDE: Visual Studio Code (latest)
Copilot extension version: latest
OS: macOS
Account SS from Github Page
