The -category:copilot filter syntax isn't supported in GitHub Discussions search yet, which is why it returns no results instead of filtering them out.

What actually works:
Instead of excluding Copilot, filter by the category you want to see. Click a specific category from the left sidebar (e.g. General, GitHub Education) — this effectively hides all Copilot discussions without needing a filter.

Alternatively, use the search bar with a keyword filter:

is:open category:General

Substitute General with whichever category you want.

Unfortunately, GitHub Discussions doesn't support exclusion filters (-category:) at this time. This would be a useful feature — worth submitting as a feature request at https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions

As a workaround, you can use the label filter in the search bar. Since Copilot-related discussions are tagged with the Copilot label, you can exclude them like this:

is:open -label:Copilot

You can also combine filters — for example, to see only General discussions without Copilot:

is:open category:General -label:Copilot

Note: The -category: exclusion syntax is not supported (only category: inclusion works), so the label-based approach is the most reliable option right now.
