[MCP] MCP doesn't work when it exposes more than 100 tools #500
The MCP works well with other MCP clients, such as VS Code, however, using it with the Copilot for Eclipse plugin we have some issues. We want to make it work within Eclipse as this is the main IDE for our developers for BW modeling work.
Steps to reproduce
Install Copilot for Eclipse (I'm on the latest 2026-09 release)
The plugin redirects successfully to the login/authentication page as all other MCP clients do as well. However, after beeing redirected back to teh Eclipse UI, I can see no tools:
4. Additionally, in the error logs I can see the following
What surprises me the most is that it is actually working with other clients - that makes me think the copilot plugin does not completely adhere to the MCP protocol.

Ok, I have debugged this even further and played around with the roles. I figured that when I select the read-only role (which has access to less tools) it works. I expect the limit is something like 100 tools per MCP. Can someone confirm that this limit exists? Can it be increased or removed entirely, as modern MCP do expose a large number of tools usually.
