Summary

MarkText always saves the recent document history (there's a note in #3767 that suggests this is a native Electron feature calling to app.addRecentDocument) and allows the user to clear the history by clicking File / Open Recent / Clear Recently Used. I think the storage of recent document history should be controlled as a user preference.

Problem it solves

It certainly is a convenient feature for many users, but likely not for all users all the time. For those situations where the save-recent-documents feature is either not needed or actually disadvantageous, it would be best to have this feature be a user preference.

Proposed solution

• Toggle in Preferences / General that says something like "Track recent documents", or
• User settable integer from 0 to 20 with a label like "Count of recent documents to track"
