Cheat Sheet use of puts #145

Description

@gregmalcolm

I've noticed that the hackety hack cheet sheet uses "puts" in a number of the examples. In the version of Hackety Hack I'm using puts doesn't actually show me anything. Should it be using alert?

For reference I'm using the latest version of Windows hackety hack (v1.0.1 if the download bar is correct)

    Good catch, I'm pretty sure it should be alert not puts. @steveklabnik ?

    Yes, it should be. puts used to exist when we had an embedded IRB...

    @steveklabnik Where is some kind of source for this cheat sheet? Didn't manage to find it when looking through hacketyhack (just the complete .png but I hope this is generated somehow)

    If that's all we've got, should I try to make a "new one" with the same content/similar design in SVG, then commit it?

    In the long run this would surely be the better solution and it would be totally cool if you did that, if you got the time =)

    That'd be fine. In future versions of Hackety, I'm not sure what a good Cheat Sheet would look like; this was something that @why left in.

    So if you're feeling adventurous... ;)

    I'm not sure what a good Cheat Sheet would look like;

    I have to say, I'm not sure how useful the cheat sheet can ever be until it's copy and pastable. Obviously copy and paste of any kind isn't possible yet, but with the cheat sheet it's extremely hard to use because every time you click in the editor to start typing the cheetsheet window will vanish behind Hackety Hack so you can't see what you're copying from.

    Maybe it should be embedded into the lesson plans instead so that it appears in the right hand tab? I think that would be much more usable!

    I actually like having lots of things in Hackety not be copy/paste-able; the only way you get practice with these things is typing them in!

    I've actually been considering (and probably will for a future release) making the Lessons be in a totally separate window than the editor. Lots of discussions about new UI are being had.

    My thoughts exactly.
