Request to Remove LGPL-3.0+ Dependencies from Dependency Tree #824

Closed

Description

@MintuJ

Since commit 58022d1, cargo-lambda has introduced a transitive dependency on the ansi_colours crate, which is licensed under LGPL-3.0-or-later.

This presents compatibility issues for organizations with strict licensing policies that prohibit the use of LGPL-licensed dependencies in their development toolchain.

Given that cargo-lambda is MIT-licensed, would it be possible to remove or replace the LGPL-3.0+ dependencies to maintain compatibility with more restrictive enterprise environments?

Details:

  • Affected dependency: ansi_colours
  • License conflict: LGPL-3.0-or-later
  • Introduced in: commit 58022d1

    Yeah, no problem, that dependency was not even necessary. I've removed it in #825.
