TUI: pasting images via Ctrl+V has no effect — no [image] indicator appears #31737

Closed as not planned

Description

@meisijiya

Description

Description

OpenCode TUI mode does not support pasting images via Ctrl+V. No [image] indicator appears in the input box, and the paste action is silently ignored.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run opencode in terminal to enter TUI mode
  2. Take a screenshot or copy an image to clipboard
  3. Press Ctrl+V in the input box
  4. The image is not attached to the message — no [image] placeholder appears

Expected Behavior

  • TUI mode should support pasting images from clipboard, showing an [image] indicator
  • Or the documentation should clearly state that image pasting is only supported in Web/IDE modes

Actual Behavior

Pasting an image has no effect — the image is silently discarded.

Environment

  • OpenCode version: 1.17.2
  • OS: WSL2 Ubuntu 24.04
  • Terminal: Windows Terminal
  • Mode: TUI (opencode)

Additional Context

The community plugin opencode-minimax-easy-vision-cli relies on the experimental.chat.messages.transform hook to provide vision capability for text-only models. It activates when image FileParts are present in a message. Since TUI mode cannot attach images via paste, the plugin can never trigger, making this a blocker for clipboard-based image workflows.

Plugins

opencode-minimax-easy-vision-cli、superpower、"plugins/orchestrator.js"

OpenCode version

1.17.2

Steps to reproduce

  1. Run opencode in terminal to enter TUI mode
  2. Take a screenshot or copy an image to clipboard (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows, then Ctrl+C)
  3. Press Ctrl+V in the OpenCode input box
  4. Observe: no [image] indicator appears, the image is silently ignored
  5. Compare with opencode web: pasting the same image in the browser does show [image]

I dont know if I can provide any logs here. It was working fine for months for me. Just stopped working right now. Only thing I did was updating opencode to latest version as usual.

Pasting in claude cli is working fine. So, everything looks good from terminal side.

I'm experiencing the same issue on Windows 11 with Windows Terminal. Before reinstalling Windows (around June 2026, v1.17.x), Ctrl+V worked fine for image pasting. After reinstalling and upgrading to v1.18.29, Ctrl+V no longer pastes images.

Thanks for the report! OpenCode 2.0 is now out and development is focused on V2, so we're closing issues filed against OpenCode 1. Please upgrade (opencode upgrade --major, details: https://anoma.ly/notes/opencode-2-0), and if this is still relevant on 2.0, reopen this issue or open a new one with your 2.0 version.
