We want to share an update on our Long-Term Support (LTS) releases.
Rocket.Chat 8.5.x is an LTS release. It was released in June 2026 and will be supported until the end of June 2027.
Rocket.Chat 8.9.x will also be an LTS release. 8.9.0 is expected to ship within the next two weeks, and the 8.9 line will be supported for 12 months from its release date.
What LTS means
12 months of support from the release date, compared to 6 months for standard releases.
Security fixes and critical bug fixes only. No new features or enhancements are added after the LTS designation.
Best for stability. LTS is a good fit for enterprise environments, business-critical production systems, and teams with strict testing or change approval processes.
Keep in mind that new features, security improvements, and non-critical bug fixes are delivered through standard releases. If you want those sooner, tracking the latest standard release is still the way to go.
Heads up if you are running 7.10 LTS
7.10 LTS reaches end of life on September 30, 2026. After EOL, a workspace no longer receives security or bug fixes, cloud-dependent services (Push Notification Gateway, Marketplace, and Omnichannel integrations) stop working, and official mobile and desktop apps may no longer connect. We recommend planning your upgrade to 8.5 LTS now, or to 8.9 LTS once it is available.
