Filter Apply and Clear buttons are too easy to confuse #2594
In the filter toolbar, Apply and Clear are adjacent and visually too similar. It is easy to click Clear when intending to apply a filter.
Expected behavior
The two actions should be visually distinct and separated enough to prevent accidental clicks. Apply should remain the primary action.
Actual behavior
The actions are adjacent and use similar native button styling, with no strong visual distinction between the Clear action and Apply.
Additional context
This is a UI usability bug and is independent of the database server. A proposed fix is prepared in the fix/filter-button-contrast branch of the rajcz/HeidiSQL fork.
HeidiSQL version and OS
Not provided (UI-only issue)
Database server version
Not applicable (UI-only issue)
Reproduction recipe
Open a data grid.
Open the Filter toolbar.
Enter a filter expression.
Try to click Apply or Clear.
Observe that the adjacent, similarly styled buttons are easy to confuse.
That pull request adds way too much code for this minor issue. I can confirm there is a minor UI issue, but my solution will be a simple icon on these buttons, making them clearly distinguishable.
