Welcome to Apache Cloudberry™ (Incubating)
Apache Cloudberry is an advanced and mature open-source Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) database, derived from the open-source Greenplum® Database but built on a more modern PostgreSQL kernel and with more advanced enterprise capabilities. Cloudberry can serve as a data warehouse and can also be used for large-scale analytics and AI/ML workloads.
Why Apache Cloudberry
Modern PostgreSQL Kernel
Built on a modern and stable PostgreSQL kernel, Cloudberry leverages upstream features, performance improvements, and the rich PostgreSQL ecosystem — giving you access to a vast landscape of extensions and modern tooling.
Greenplum® Compatible
Derived from Greenplum® Database, Cloudberry maintains operational and behavioral compatibility — making migration straightforward for existing open-source Greenplum users with support for familiar workflows and migration tooling.
Vendor-Neutral & Apache-Governed
Developed under the Apache Software Foundation's governance model, ensuring a truly open, vendor-neutral community with transparent, merit-based decision-making.
Built for Performance
Parallel query execution and incremental materialized views deliver fast, scalable analytics — from terabytes to petabytes — on commodity hardware, virtual machines, or in the cloud.
Multi-Workload Ready
Handle diverse workloads out of the box — spatial analysis with PostGIS and in-database machine learning with Apache MADlib, all within a single MPP engine.
Enterprise-Grade Security & Modern Features
Transparent data encryption, password policies, a hybrid PAX storage engine, and dynamic tables for near-real-time data — all built for production-critical environments.

Apache Cloudberry is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
