On other hand, we can use the standard font chooser dialog. But it doesn't allow to configure the sample text at all (at least on X Window).

Terry, try please the following commands on Windows:

import tkinter
root = tkinter.Tk()
root.tk.call('tk', 'fontchooser', 'show')

How it looks?
