shows that the relevant versions on this machine are:

glibc 2.3.4
linuxthreads-0.10

and from http://www.python.org/dev/buildbot/builders/x86%20gentoo%203.x, it looks like the kernel version is 2.6.9 (actually, 2.6.9-gentoo-r1).
