I love the old Duolingo better😫

So here’s the thing… the new update of Duolingo is awesome but I find it difficult to practice my Chinese lessons… It’s more difficult and too challenging now which is very discouraging. I love the interface which have nice designs and a better look but the old style of learning was way better and I enjoyed my lessons. If learning Chinese becomes a bit challenging, I could always sharpen my old skills (words/lessons) and then come back to my current lesson. It’s not the same for the new update. The new update also takes a lot of gems to even take side quests. Also, if you could treat the other languages like how you treat French, I believe learning would be more fun and easy. I see myself taking more of my French lessons just because I find the Chinese lessons too difficult and want to protect my streak.
Doing it for the streaks

I know the losing-streak threat helps motivate me to do my lessons daily, but lately I feel like I’m doing them more for the streak than for the actual learning.I’ve been doing the same old lesson for about four months now just to maintain my streak, and I don’t feel like I’m genuinely learning or progressing anymore.I think the streak has become the goal instead of a motivation to learn. I want to get back to actually enjoying the lessons, learning new things, and improving my Spanish rather than just doing the bare minimum every day to keep a number alive.
Troubleshooting and personal complaints

I’ve been using Duolingo for a while on my mom’s account and at the time it worked fine, but when I downloaded it on my phone quite a few changes caught my eye. First of all the hearts were replaced by this weird energy thing that gets deducted with every question, instead of every wrong question. This has significantly reduced my learning. Isn’t Duolingo supposed to be a “free” learning app? Yet you make the free plan rubbish, bombard us with ads at the end every lesson and make everything about “Super” and “Max”! Additionally whenever I try the speaking exercises, the app doesn’t recognize me. At first I thought my accent was bad then when I used a professional Spanish speaker I found on the internet I realized it wasn’t me but the app. Please fix this glitch as soon as you can. Duolingo is a very fun app and I don’t want it to be ruined by greed.
Our mascot owl, Duo, is trading in his usual diet of mice for bugs this week. Yup, we’re squashing those pesky bugs to make the experience better for all of you.
