LIFE HACK
Your morning simplified

Start the day feeling calmer and clearer with these apps.

Your alarm goes off – and messages, appointments and to-dos are already competing for your attention. But there’s no need to start the day at full speed. A few mindful minutes, a quick check-in on your energy levels and a little structure can make your morning feel much less hectic.

Wondering where to begin? We’ve put together some great apps to help you establish a morning routine that sets you up for whatever’s to come.

7am: Ease into the day

Before checking messages and notifications, give yourself a gentler start. Calm offers guided meditations and mindfulness exercises that can fit into even the busiest morning.

Find a little peace each morning with Calm’s guided breathing exercises.

Pop in your headphones and stay in bed for a few more minutes, or settle by the window with a cup of coffee. Even a short session can bring you a little tranquility before the day ramps up.

7.30am: Check your energy levels

Feeling awake? Open Rise to see what your energy levels could look like today. The app analyses your sleep and shows when you can expect your natural energy to peak and dip throughout the day.

Spot your energy peaks and dips throughout the day with Rise.

Perhaps the morning is ideal for some focused work, while that afternoon dip could be a good time to take a short break.

7.35am: Structure your tasks

Now it’s time to see what’s ahead. Structured brings appointments and tasks together in a visual timeline, turning a packed calendar into an easy-to-follow daily schedule.

See your schedule at a glance with Structured’s visual timeline.

Meetings, errands, exercise or a well-earned break: with everything laid out chronologically, you can quickly see when your attention is needed – and when you can enjoy a little breathing room.

7.45am: Get up to speed

Before the day gets properly underway, Google Gemini can give you a personalised update on the topics you care about. Whether it’s sport, culture or tech, ask the AI assistant to summarise relevant news so you don’t have to scroll through multiple sources first thing in the morning.

Catch up on the latest news and sports results with Gemini.

Gemini can also turn its attention to your inbox. With access to Gmail, you can ask it to search your emails and flag any upcoming tasks or outstanding action items. That way, you can quickly see what needs your attention without working through every message one by one.

8am: Ready for the day

You’ve taken a moment to breathe, have a better understanding of your energy levels and feel on top of the topics and tasks that matter to you. Now all that’s left to do is enjoy the day ahead.

Save a passing thought before lunch. Keep distractions at bay when it’s time to focus. Check in with yourself as the afternoon rolls around. A few little helpers, similar to the ones that got your day off to a good start, can keep things running smoothly right through to the evening.
